Why do it? Because it’s there!
Blogathon Workspace, 7 AM
When I informed friends and colleagues that I was going to blog for 24 hours straight, I got different reactions.
“24 hours? But why?” was the question most often asked, and although they were supportive of the idea, some felt it was crazy that one would blog for 24 hours straight.
“Don’t kill yourself,” said a concerned friend.
In attempting to answer their question as to why I decided to blog for 24 hours, especially given that I’ve only recently started blogging, I thought of the quote famously attributed to George Mallory, the man believed to have been the first to climb Mt Everest in 1924, but was believed to have perished on his way down, some twenty nine years before Edmund Hillary’s successful attempt on the record.
If you haven’t read Jeffrey Archer’s Paths of Glory, I highly recommend it – it’s very different from his other pulp fiction novels.
When a reporter asked Mallory why he wanted to climb Mt Everest, his reply simply was “Because it’s there”.
Okay, I’m not in the least comparing the blogathon craziness to climbing Mt Everest, but to answer the question why I’m (as are the many blogathoners) blogging for 24 hours, one answer I could think of was:
“Because there are 24 hours”.
Well, more importantly, I love to write. To put my thoughts on paper. And now, to blog – although I’m a late starter in blogging. And I’ve found a cause I strongly believe in. Opportunities for the hard of hearing. For I’m one of them too. And I’ve found blogging to be one way to voice my views, and as CHHA’s motto goes, for a chance to hear and be heard.
Plus, it gives me an opportunity to share some of what I know, some of business & systems analysis knowledge and experience. Which brings us to the topic of the Sweet Spot. Coming up in half hour..
A Business Systems Analyst pondering over requirements analysis, process improvements, project management, communication, story telling, the meaning of life and how everything fits together. This blog is to share my thoughts on all these and more.

Morning! Way to pace yourself!
[...] So why am I doing this again? Seems like a long time ago! [...]
[...] So why did I do it? The answer still holds true. [...]
