Electronic CV means that a traditional paper based CV is properly prepared for electronically storing, distributing, tracking and searching via the applicant-tracking software many job banks, employers and recruiters use these days.  Imagine how an organisation manages to filter over 4000 thousand CV’s to cover 40 positions?  The answer is scanning software that allows the recruiter to grade the CV’s before they ever open a CV file.

My career advice and general career guidance is that you must have an electronic CV (eCV).  Recruiters are now electronically scanning CVs, in order to do all the screening automatically.  Depending on the employer you may not need to factor or submit an electronically considered CV however it is good practice to factor keywords into your CV regardless.

Those who are committed to achieving career success know that it is a good idea to maintain an up to date resume.

There are at least four benefits to be gained by following this practice.

1. Maintaining your resume on a continuing basis means you can work free of undue pressure to produce the best possible, most persuasive documents that the facts justify and your ambitions require.

The same goes for a letter to present your resume to prospective employers.

When you have written a great CV and a superb covering letter and actually got an interview then you may start to panic if you have read anything online with regards to the questions you may be asked.

What is typically involved in a career guidance session with a Junior Certificate (Age 15/16) candidate?  What important factors do you consider with the candidate?

A session at this age would generally be geared at helping students develop skills such as self-management of their time, awareness of their own talents and weaknesses, study skills and coping strategies to help them deal with the challenges posed by adolescence.

Also while choosing subjects for the Junior Cert is not difficult it is important for students to include Science and a modern language as otherwise they can seriously reduce the options available to them at a later stage.
